Panama City, Panama – August 2, 2022 – SANTIAGO – Chronicles of a Young Traveler is a labor of love and has been six years in the making. It is inspired by actual live events that the author experienced as he set out to travel and broaden his life experiences. The author, Eduardo Ríos Lasso, is actually a Physician of Internal Medicine. Deep inside his being, he always knew that the combination of writing, creating, and traveling makes him incredibly happy.
The main character is Santiago, a 26-year-old Santiago fresh out of Law School that has always longed to see the world, but his anxiety gets in the way. But one day, after years of saving, Santiago courageously buys a ticket around the world. His parents think he’s crazy, but he takes a leap of faith and sets out alone.
Meanwhile, Santiago finds out his best friend Laura, who played a crucial role in helping him organize the trip, cannot join him for part of the trip as they had planned because she battles a recently diagnosed autoimmune disease. Will he regret his decision to leave her behind? Will their friendship survive or blossom into something more?
On his journeys from New York to Lisbon, Paris to Sarajevo, and Istanbul to Bali, Santiago must overcome his shyness and open up his heart despite facing challenges, such as scams and confronting complex issues like human trafficking. Join Santiago on a journey of self-discovery and adventure like no other.
During a recent interview, the author said, “Traveling is one of the best ways to learn about the world. By combining storytelling and travel, we can raise awareness about serious tourism-related topics affecting societies worldwide, such as the environment and human trafficking.”
Reader Testimonials always tell the story. A Verified Reader from Germany made these comments, 5.0 out of 5 stars. “Go out there to live and learn. Just finished the book and would love to pack my bags and hop on the next plane to some unknown destination right away. It really covers the ups and also downs of travelling the world on your own in a great way. I could also relate to the many thoughts and worries of Santiago about the friends and family left at home!
It was great to follow Santiago’s personal growth in becoming an independent young adult who doesn‘t have to worry about his next steps but just has to dive right into life and‚ surf’ his way through! I really recommend this book to all who struggle with anxiety or just doubts but would love to see the world. This one could be a nudge in the right direction.”
