Research has shown that most businesses inevitably hit plateaus as they continue to grow and most often, these issues result from deficiencies in leadership. There are numerous variables that cause these plateaus, including underdeveloped emotional awareness, ineffective systems, inefficient processes, minimal ongoing education & training, low margin for innovation, and outdated sales & marketing strategies.
David Waldy is one of the world’s leading voices and high-performance coaches on emotional intelligence, confidence, and empathy-based solutions that create transformational results in leadership, business growth, and systematic personal/leadership development. He shares his philosophy of “Fierce Empathy” and how adopting it into your life can create aligned abundance – peace, joy, and fulfillment in your health, relationships, finances, and overall quality of life – at work and at home.
David has worked with thousands of entrepreneurs, influencers, and thought leaders as well as inspired and trained hundreds of thousands of people from around the world. His consulting and coaching services have been used by 7, 8, & 9-figure brands to create deeper connection with their teams and clients, optimize systems & processes, and transform their cultures and top line revenue through effective, engaged, emotionally aware leadership.
He divulged the essence of his Fierce Empathy philosophy, stating:
“Fierce Empathy is the process of immersing oneself into a shared experience by becoming fully present and focusing solely on seeing, hearing, and understanding from another’s perspective, all while simultaneously practicing calculated emotional detachment from the other person’s emotional state. It is the art and science of creating a safe and empowered environment where you empathize with others and have the courage to ask challenging questions, provide objective feedback, and engage in healthy disagreement or confrontation, all in an effort to assist them in the process of extracting answers and solutions from within themselves, despite any discomfort it may cause.”
David explains how many entrepreneurs and leaders don’t recognize that most of their business problems directly correlate to their personal habits, belief systems, levels of emotional awareness, and overall self-image. He believes that personal development is the foundation of all business development and that all business problems can be solved once the leader decides to change and grow. This personal development directly affects a leaders ability to influence, engage, and collaborate with their teams and clients.
Practicing “Fierce Empathy” takes intentionality, consistency and imperfect action, especially in environments where trust has been fractured, expectations are unclear, or clarity and vision are lacking. He says, “leaders tend to jump in and try to fix problems without realizing their actions often override the incredible brilliance of others, causing the people around them to feel resentful, undervalued, or invalidated. These constant knee-jerk reactions from leadership tend to produce lackluster results and short term resolutions. In turn, this creates underperformance and volatile environments where others disengage, because they perceive the leader to be at best, an overstepping micro-manager or at worst, a full blown narcissist. People are extraordinary, and leaders must learn how to navigate challenges by developing their emotional awareness, consider various perspectives, and identifying whether support or solutions are needed.”
In short, leaders don’t know how to trust themselves or the people around them. Because of this, they live in a perpetual state of cognitive dissonance where they are reactive rather than proactive. Living in this constant reactionary state causes emotional dysregulation, elevated stress and anxiety levels, and general dissatisfaction with life. This trickles over into their physical and mental health, relationships with family and friends, and ultimately leads to burnout. Joy, peace, and fulfillment are not the underpinnings of these leaders.
“No one is coming to save you or fix your problems. And if the answers you’re finding aren’t solving those problems, you’re asking the wrong questions. You don’t know what you don’t know, and you can’t see what you can’t see. Fortunately, the answers are already within you. This is why you need someone in your corner who can see from an outsider’s perspective and can help you extract the answers that you already carry. That’s where I come in. I’m here to ask the questions you’re not asking yourself”.
David’s official website states:
“I’m here to make you uncomfortable so you can avoid years of wasted time, energy, and money. On your deathbed, I want you to be able to look back and say “I lived full out and squeezed every drop of juice out of life.” I’m here to come alongside you and show you what you can’t see because you’re getting in your own way. I’m here to hold a mirror to the things you need to address in your life so that you can stop holding yourself back and become everything you said you would be.”
